DESIGNER AT SKY, LONDON
What does life look like outside of my 9-5?
Although I love being productive, I also understand the value of rest and wellbeing. When I'm not working freelance projects, teaching or mentoring aspiring designers, I enjoy calligraphy and hand-lettering, reading, binge-watching anything that grabs my attention and photographing sunsets around the world.
I'm an advocate for continuous self-development and a believer in the power of networking so I regularly attend design conferences and events.
What am I most proud of?
In 2018, I started my own wedding stationery business @wildolive.stationery, where I combine my knowledge of customer experience, calligraphy and design to create bespoke wedding invitations and more.
In 2019, I opened an Etsy store to sell personalised hand-written gifts @secretplaceco and began speaking at events and colleges to share my career experiences in order to educate, motive and inspire people wanting to start a career in design.
In 2020, I launched an initiative with a friend called Olly&Franc, with the aim of sharing our design journey and experiences to help new designers from minority backgrounds to feel empowered. You can find us on Instagram @ollyandfranc.
In 2021...the possibilities are endless and it's already looking bright 😉
My job without using the words "design" or "designer."
At Sky, I improve and create journeys grounded in research and data, to optimise the customer experience across Sky Q.
I create journeys, facilitate workshops, prototype, test and learn, whilst championing the needs of our customers, considering usability and accessibility throughout and aligning these with the businesses strategy and objectives.
With almost 10 years' experience I have worked across digital, print and branding projects and have both in-house and agency experience, working with brands such as NOW TV, Boux Avenue, Attraction Tickets Direct, BYP Network & more.
